I support creative business owners in accomplishing their design dreams.
The Showit website design platform was created with photographers in mind, and it’s gaining popularity with other creative business owners as well. I am a brand + web designer. When I discovered the Showit, I felt like I found a hidden gem. It has nearly everything that I felt was missing from other web design platforms I’ve used!
I’ve already talked about why Showit and Shopify are two of the best website platforms in terms of price, quality, customization, and convenience. It’s important to note that if your business focuses on e-commerce, Shopify is probably the best option for you. Right now, I want to focus on who Showit is right for.
Chances are, if you research Showit, you’ll hear the phrase creative business owner (or creative/creative professional) mentioned quite a bit. So, who exactly is a creative? And why is Showit right for them?
A Creative Business Owner is anyone who uses a creative skillset to earn an income. Photographers, Graphic Designers, Life Coaches, Interior Designers, and Writers are just a few examples.
Whether you are hiring a designer to build a custom Showit site, or customizing a pre-designed Showit template, the design options are endless. You can pretty much create or change anything that you want. Best of all, you won’t need to know coding.
I think that what most wows creative business owners about Showit is this aspect of creative freedom. Our brand identities can’t be put in a box. Being able to express our unique brands through web design is key to connecting with the right audiences.
Due to the fact that we creatives often work solo or in small teams, we need websites that are easy to edit and maintain. Even if design isn’t your strength.
One of the best things about Showit, besides the design freedom, is the fact that they figured out how to integrate with WordPress. This means that you can have a powerful blog, without a difficult to customize theme.
Whether you are a blogger by trade or not, you’ll want to have a blog on your site. It’s good for your SEO (how you get found on Google).
It used to be that small business owners gravitated towards WordPress for it’s power, but became frustrated because their website was hard to edit. Showit eliminates this problem completely!
Discovering Showit has been a tremendous blessing to my business, but that doesn’t mean that it’s the best choice for every business. The Showit + Basic Blog plan costs $29/month, which I think is a fair price for everything that you get. However, if you’re just starting out, it might not have the budget hire a designer and pay that monthly fee.
If that’s you, know that it’s okay to start where you are, use what you have, and upgrade to a better website once you grow. I recommend Wix for new business owners who want to build and maintain their own site.
