Organizations to Support for Giving Tuesday: Nonprofit Client Spotlight

Today is Giving Tuesday, a day focused on supporting organizations that are working to make our communities better. I’ve had the honor of working with several nonprofits who are doing amazing things, and I want to highlight them! All of these organizations happen to serve kids and families. It’s wonderful what they are doing to reach the next generation of leaders!

Miss Erica’s Reading Club: Diverse Storytime and Activities for Kids

Miss Erica’s Reading Club is a nonprofit organization that encourages kids to develop a love for reading. Erica is actually one of my dearest friends. Her joy is contagious and she has such a heart for serving kids! She shares books and activities for a variety of ages, with a special emphasis on featuring stories about children of Color. You can checkout the storytime videos on her YouTube channel with your family, and donate via her website. She’s such a fun follow on Instagram as well!

Salood: Bringing Young Cancer Warriors and Businesses Together

When I worked with Salood earlier this year, I was completely blown away by what they do to support the pediatric cancer community. Through their Ambassador Program, Salood pairs a pediatric cancer warrior with a business owner to create a customized product. The product is then brought to market. A portion of the proceeds support Salood’s Financial Relief Program for families who need help covering treatment costs. Believe to Achieve: Empowering Youth through Financial Literacy

Believe to Achieve was founded by Shirika, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, to tackle the lack of financial literacy education in Mississippi – especially for children of Color. The organization offers programs for middle school, high school, and college students to help them learn about topics like credit cards, saving and investing, and preparing for college. Shirika asks the question, “if we don’t teach our children about money, how do we expect them to manage money successfully as adults?” To help make Believe to Achieve’s programs possible, donate via their website.
