8 Tips for Creating Social Media Graphics Using Canva

Creating social media graphics doesn’t have to take you hours, and you don’t have to be a wiz with Photoshop. Canva makes it quick + easy to create professional graphics for your posts.

This tutorial is for beginners, so if you have been using Canva for a while or you are a professional designer, this might not be the video for you. But, if you’re a newer business owner with little design experience, stick around and I’ll show you some simple ways to elevate the look of your graphics.

All 8 Tips for Creating Social Media Graphics:

1. Pick a message/theme for your graphic that will resonate with your audience.
2. Size your graphic correctly for each platform. (Canva’s templates will help you do this!)
3. Consider your brand and choose fonts, colors, and images that match your brand’s style.
4. When creating graphics with text/quotes, changing the size, color, and/or font of certain words will help emphasize them and get your point across.
5. You can copy a page in a file or add new blank pages to keep designing without disturbing your first graphic. The copy button hovers in the upper right area above each canvas.
6. Click an image, then click “Adjust,” to make changes to its brightness, contrast, saturation, tint, and blur.
7. Download your social media graphics as PNGs. This file type usually displays well on social media.
8. Use the resize tool to quickly resize a graphic for use on a different platform. (Ex: Turn a Facebook post into an Instagram or Twitter post). You might have to tweak the design a bit, but it will save you the trouble of having to completely recreate the graphic!
