I support creative business owners in accomplishing their design dreams.
I am honored that Giselle trusted me to bring her life coach website design dreams to life! From the day I met Giselle, I knew that she had a story to tell. When I asked about her business during our discovery call, she shared with me that she is a life coach and author for the LGBTQ+ community, and that she draws upon her own experiences to help her serve.
After not being accepted as a lesbian by her family, she embarked on her own journey of understanding herself and God. As a fellow Christian, my heart broke hearing the rejection she had faced. I felt a stirring in my heart to just love her like Jesus does and serve her well. But I didn’t pity her; I am so proud of how much she has overcome and that she is using what she has learned in life to help others.
I design websites using the Showit website builder. I love using the Showit because it allows for creative freedom, and is easy for my clients to edit moving forward!
We decided to go the template customization route for Giselle’s website. Template customization means that Giselle purchased a Showit website template, then hired me as a designer to customize it for her. Because we don’t have to start from scratch, it’s a great option for newer business owners with smaller budgets, or anyone who wants to launch a website quickly!
Giselle chose the Sienna Hunter Showit template from fellow designer Jessica Gringrich’s template shop. I then selected brand colors, fonts, and designed a logo. Once I used Giselle’s new branding and content to customize the template, we came up with a website that’s just as unique as her!
For Giselle’s new brand vibe, she wanted something that was peaceful and elegant. I picked up on the fact that while she does appreciate professionalism and elegance, she is also laid back. So, I decided that her brand vibe should be “casual elegant + peaceful.” Here’s the mood board I created, which inspired the brand vibe for the rest of the project:
Given the sensitive nature of Giselle’s work, I really wanted people to feel at ease while visiting her website. I went with a calming blue-green color palette to help accomplish this feeling. The colors I went with are muted enough to feel mature, but still bright enough to match Giselle’s cheerful personality.
A custom, text-only logo design is included as part of my template customization package. After choosing to go with modern fonts, I created Giselle’s logo. You’ll notice that a tagline is included, “I coach same-gender loving people!” This tagline has special meaning to Giselle.
Jessica Gringrich created a wonderful template, with most of the features that Giselle needed to share about her life coaching services and book! I adapted the template set up some to make it work better for Giselle’s business specifically. I love how easy it is navigate, and that her copywriting shines. Giselle wrote her own website copy, and did a great job!
